Special Olympics GTA Truck Convoy

Special Olympics athletes are invited to attend the upcoming GTA Truck Convoy.  The World’s Largest Truck Convoy is a celebration of the trucking industry in support of Special Olympics. It is a unique one-day event where law enforcement make special dispensation and escort a convoy of trucks through parts of Southern Ontario. The event raises much needed funds and awareness for Special Olympics.  The Peel Police will be bringing a bus so all athletes can ride in the convoy.  Please see below for additional details and link to the registration form.

Date: Saturday September 16, 2017

Meeting Location: Powerade Centre - 7575 Kennedy Rd S, Brampton, ON

Timeline:

10:45 AM                 Opening Ceremony

11:00 AM                 Convoy Departs

12:30 PM                 Convoy returns to Powerade Centre

1:00 – 2:00 PM         BBQ lunch

2:00 PM                   Silent Auction closes

2:30 PM                   Closing Ceremony

3:00 PM                   Fire Truck Pull with Special Olympics athletes

Fall/Winter 2017/2018 Registration is Now Open

Registration for fall/winter sports is now open. 

The Athlete Registration Package is posted under Registration on the left side of this page. Athletes cannot participate in practice until their registration package has been received.

A $10 Early Bird Discount is available for registrations that are postmarked by September 12, 2017.

In-person registration is available Tuesday, September 12 from 5:30 to 7 pm at Victoria Bowling Lanes, 280 Victoria Street South, Kitchener.

If you do not wish to register in person, please mail registration forms and payment as noted in the registration package. Please note that we do not have a physical office - only a Post Office Box - so you must mail your registration forms.

Spring/Summer Sports Registration

Registration for spring/summer sports is now open.  The Athlete Registration Package is posted under Registration on the left side of this page. Athletes cannot participate in practice until their registration package has been received.

A $10 Early Bird Discount is available for registrations that are postmarked by May 3, 2017.  In-person registration is available Tuesday, May 16 from 7 to 8 pm on the track at St. David CSS, 4 High Street, Waterloo.

Special Olympics: Kitchener-Waterloo Boston Pizza Fundraiser

Come out to our special event at Bostons Pizza Erbsville in Waterloo, ON. Proceeds for meals purchased toward 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. will go toward helping our athletes going to provincial and national tournaments.

Winter World Games - March 14 to 25, 2017

We are very proud and excited for the upcoming Special Olympics Winter World Games, that will take place March 14 to 25, 2017 in Austria. Kitchener-Waterloo's very own Allie Libertini will be competing in Nordic Skiing and Peter Snider will be competing in Snowshoeing.

2016 City of Kitchener Salute to Seniors

Eleanor Namuddu, Swimming Head Coach, was recognized as our Special Olympics Ontario Kitchener-Waterloo Volunteer of the Year.  The Kitchener Sports Association presented Eleanor with her plaque at their Volunteer Recognition Awards dinner and ceremony on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

With Eleanor in the photo above is her friend and mentor, George Goetz.
